Kingway Hub

Kingway Hub

Project details

KINGSWAY HUB is a proposal to transform the abandoned Kingsway Tram Subway into the

underground HUB to integrate Holborn Tube Station, Market and Institutions around the site. By crossing High Holborn which is designated as Central London Frontage, the project will provide another level of cultural/retail experience in the area.

– The existing ramp will be transformed to attract pedestrians from Russell Square Gardens and Bloomsbury Square Gardens. The integrated stairway down to the ramp will smoothly connect to Sicilian Avenue.

– The Tramway becomes a market place using alcoves for market stall places. Encounter of retailer, local, tourist, exhibiter, artists, and daily commuter generates social mix in many levels and contributes to the local economy.

– Connection at two levels between Holborn Tube Station and the HUB will give people additional choice in their routes locally.

– The old underground tram station is turned into a plaza to be used as meeting and exhibition place. The introduction of new top lights will draw daylight and natural ventilation into the space.
