A stunning house refurbishment & extension project designed by JAIA Architects has received full planning approval from Elmbridge Borough Council.
Over time, the house expanded from a tiny cottage residence. However, because of the house’s constrained topographical levels, the living, cooking, and dining areas were dispersed over a number of levels. The client, who has lived in this home for the past 15 years, feels that the ground floor’s living, dining, and kitchen are imbalanced in terms of floor space compared to the first and second floors’ five bedrooms with studio.
By opening up the ground floor and connecting it to a newly developed rear extension area on the current garden level, JAIA’s plan maximises the full potential of the property and produces more balanced living spaces on the ground floor for a modern family living lifestyle. Additionally, the integrated garage conversion into a study will meet the demand of the current working from home trend.
