DEC.2019 WICKFORD LIBRARY REGENERATION – Planning Approval

JAIA Architects are pleased to announce that a full planning permission has been granted for the complete demolition and regeneration of Wickford Library, in the centre of Wickford. The project consists of a relocation of the library, and the existing site to be replaced with a large residential scheme of 65 units. JAIA has been appointed to propose a full design of the residential sector, along with a commercial unit on the ground floor and the newly relocated library’s interior. The façade of the building is designed to be sensitive to the existing buildings in the neighbourhood, whilst also articulating the mass to soften up the large bulk. The proposed design of the architecture compliments the existing surroundings of the city centre, by emphasising the active frontage of the scheme.
