Koshirakura Pavillion

Koshirakura Pavillion, Japan

An eventful structure creates dynamic atmosphere. The pavilion was designed to be a core space for a village’s festival as “Temporary Structure”. Those materials used are purely recyclable such as timber off cuts and leftovers from log cutting process. And many ideas were physically tested to find out appropriate building methods to bring different materials together. The design requirements were; 1 – a pleasant shade for 60 people, 2 – dynamic and playful surface, 3 – use of available local materials, 4 – easy to assemble and disassemble.
