The subject property St. Georges Close sits between St. Georges’s Avenue and a railway line in Weybridge, Surrey. The property has a communal garden surrounded by existing 2 storey terraced houses. In total, there are 12 terraced houses, 7 on the east side and 5 on the north. The poorly designed existing terraced building gives a very monotonous and dry environment but matured trees effectively hide them from street view. There were regulatory requirements to be sympathetic to the character of the surrounding area, to respect established building lines and to maintain minimum distances between existing houses and gardens. We worked within this framework to create a nicely located semi-detached & terraced houses with a picturesque view from the main entrance. One of the interesting features is a see-through car lift between the garage and basement floors. When the car lift is elevated, the space below can be converted to a cinema or music room.
